Complete Cardmaking: Issue 53

Several months ago I was asked by the Doodle Pantry owner/creator to make a card for their feature spread in the Complete Cardmaking magazine.  Can you believe I didn't tell anyone about it? But, since the magazine is available as of today, I can finally share the news with you . . . one of my cards is in a national publication !
Edited Note: As of 11/14/14 the magazine is now available.

I chose to use Doodle Pantry's Mini Bethlehem set. I love everything about this set: the images (I used a pre-colored image), the papers and the sentiments.

I used a second sentiment from the set for the inside. I also included a mini, reversed pre-colored image at the bottom to tie it all together.

Pre-colored digital images and digital papers really do take card making to a whole new "easy" level.

If you purchase the magazine (click here for more information), you'll also receive a FREE CD with lots of digital items including the Doodle Pantry Mini Bethlehem set !

Christmas Card Challenges #49

This week the challenge at Christmas Card Challenges is
No Embellishments

Once again, I have to thank my good friend Gerry for helping me with my card for this week. I love the blues, the embossing (is that considered an embellishment?) and the simple layout of this card.

I love getting together with my "Card Friends" because they all have such wonderful ideas when it comes to making cards.  And it sure has helped me, since I'm still trying to organize my Office/Craft Studio.

Doodle Pantry - Part 2

I did a second card for November's New Releases over at Doodle Pantry using Circle Somethings 2.  So I had this vision in my head of what I wanted to do . . . and somehow the card doesn't exactly match the vision, but I love it anyway.

I bought this new product call "True Snow" (by Aleene) and couldn't wait to use it. So I created snow paths.  I was having so much fun that I also "snowed" the oval sentiment as well.

I printed 2 sets of the three trees. I should have sized the tree so I could use my 1" or 1-1/4" punch . . . but nnnooo . . . the tree circle had to be right in between. So I fussy cut the three tree rounds and added some dimensionals to give them a bit of character.

Circle Somethings 2

Circle Somethings 2 is on sale right now.  Stop by the Doodle Pantry Store to see this set and the other 11 new releases for November.

New Releases at Doodle Pantry

The first of the month means new releases at the Doodle Pantry Store.

Today I'm featuring a pre-colored image, digital paper and sentiment from the White Owl Color Plus set.  I printed two owl images ~ fussy cut the owl and branch out of one and cut just the wing out of the second.  I added some white gel pen to the feathers (they show up so much better in person).

Christmas Card Challenges # 48

An "Anything Goes" challenge this week at Christmas Card Challenges. The Holiday is almost here and you need to get those cards done in time to mail them.

Hopefully my simple card layout will inspire you.

I used a pre-colored digi, paper and sentiment from Doodle Pantry's "Winter Star."

Added a few handmade dots ~ love these.

Two punched labels (Stampin' Up!) became the mat for the inside sentiment.

So, how are you doing on your Christmas cards? Still need a few more? Stop by Christmas Card Challenges to see what the other DT members created this week . . . maybe you'll be inspired to "create."

Happy Birthday, Dad

I may not be completely unpacked and "settled" into the new house yet, but I was able to spend a half day in the 'still unorganized' craft room. What a great feeling to be Creative again.

This is one of the adorable digi images from Doodle Pantry's Silly Critter set. The sentiment is my own, but I think the sentiment lends itself to the look on this critter's face.  Priceless.

This card is for my dad. We live far away from him and we'd love for him to move closer to us, but so far we've had no luck in convincing him to move. And with us recently moving into a new house (same community, same street, just a different home), making a trip north for his birthday this year was not practical.

Happy Birthday, Dad. Hope your day is special ~ since you're very special to us.

I'm back

I'm sorry that I've been absent for awhile, but we recently moved into a new house and things are still not going well. It seems as if somethings breaks or falls apart every day and we have new surprises (not happy ones) weekly. God is teaching me a lot of patience and maybe if I would learn how to be patient, He wouldn't have to keep giving me lessons {smile}.

I'm finally able to be a little creative ~ meaning I have finally found my cardstock, computer and printer. However, I don't have much room to work on projects since the work tables are covered with "stuff," but hopefully that will change during the next week.

Since it's Sunday, there's another weekly challenge for you at Christmas Card Challenges. Those Christmas cards will need to go in the mail soon, so I hope you're working on yours.  The theme this week is an Inspiration Photo and it's a snow globe.

The card looks better in person than in the photo (at least I feel it does). Somehow the round piece of plastic that I punched out to create the "snow globe" doesn't show up in the photo ~ so just pretend that you see a shiny, "glassy-like" round piece creating the snow globe.

I used the Winter Song Birdies digital image from Doodle Pantry (the color digi) and fussy cut around the printed image.  I embossed a round circle with a dot embossing folder to create fake "snow" ~ glued the digi to the top of that and then added the clear plastic round. A brown base finishes the snow globe.  The sentiment is also from the Winter Song Birdies set.

Below is the Christmas Card Challenges Inspirational Photo.  Stop by the blog to see what the other Design Team members created this week.
