Doodle Pantry + Send A Smile For Kids

Doodle Pantry is sponsoring Send A Smile For Kids Challenge. Their theme for the next two weeks is Valentine/Love.

I was more than happy to get away from Christmas cards for awhile, so I had to play along. Also, who doesn't just love making cards for children, right??

I used the chicks from Doodle Pantry's Spring Critters set (pre-colored, but I went over the colors with Copics ~ ok, I'm not sure this really does anything to the image, especially if I use a color very close to the printed color; but it makes me "feel" like I'm coloring . . . so I'll continue doing this LOL)

I used the heart from Calendar Mini's, but I digitally removed just one heart because I didn't like the way the two hearts looked with the chicks.  Thank goodness Laurie, the Doodle Pantry genius, also includes png files so you can combine multiple images to create one image (below).

The sentiment is computer-generated and I did color this one on my own using Copics (RV10, RV11 & RV13)

Imagine That . . .

I received the cutest digital stamp (Winter Love) with sentiments from Imagine That for playing along in their monthly progressive challenge in January.  However, since I didn't get my card done by Valentine's Day (wow, what a surprise; not), I decided to use a sentiment from Whimsy Stamps ("where ever you go, go with all your heart) which will make this digi one I can use all year long.

 

"Winter Love" came with both black and white and color digis.  I used the colorized version, but went over the colors with my Copics. I like digis that come with the black and white line art as well as a colorized version. When I need to make a card quickly, I can use the color version. And, I can also use the color version as a guide when I color the black and white line art.

Brown, red and white cardstock, ribbon and DP from my stash, Spellbinders dies-Labels Two and Three, Copics and Stampin' Up! punch.

Remember when...

     So much has changed since I started paper crafting. In some ways, cardmaking has become much easier: computers, die-cuts, machines, etc. And so many choices on designer paper, cardstock colors, matching ribbons, buttons and other embellishments. Wow! No wonder my Craft Room is overflowing.

     The gals over at 365 Cards (they're the ones that encourage you to make a card a day) had a recent Challenge for us to create a card using the trends back when we first started cardmaking.

     Boy, did that take me back. Fortunately, I'm not sure I should admit this, I still have some of the paper and punches I used when I first began making cards. So I used them to create the following card.

 

     The DP is cardstock that I had splattered with bright green and pink paint. The corner punch is one of the first ones I ever bought. I also used a couple old Sizzix dies (the heart and tags). It was all put together on pink cardstock with a bright green mat. OK, the ribbon is new, but I'm sure I used ribbon back when I started making cards.

 

     I'm also adding this card to the Moxie Fab World Tuesday Trigger (the picture is below).  I'm picking up the pinks and greens in the picture. I really love the Spring colors.

 

 

 

Heart of My Heart

It seems like just yesterday that I married the love of my life--even though it was actually 23 years ago (March 10). To celebrate our special day, he took me out to breakfast and dinner! So I thought he should get a special handmade card from me.

 

 

I used a digi stamp from Birdie Brown (so cute and versatile) and colored it using Copics. And of course I had to add a Hugs and Kisses sentiment to the inside...after all, it's our Anniversary!
