I can't believe that my 'niece' (she's actually my cousin's daughter, but we are so close that I think of her as a niece) is graduating from high school this year. I have a lot of good memories with her, so I wanted to make her a special card.
I'm SO happy with the way this card came together, although I've been working on it for 3 days {smile}. I hope she likes it...which I'm sure she will, especially if I include a check!
The card design/sketch was inspired by 365 Cards Day 154 Challenge: select one sketch and one other challenge to create your card (from Feb through Apr).
For the sketch I chose April 28-Day 118 and for the other challenge I chose March 16-Day 75: Double it Up-Use 3 sets of doubles. Here's the sketch.
My doubles are: 2 round silver circles, 2 black rhinestones and 2 flags (the front flap is a flag and the inside has a flag for writing a message).
I really had fun creating the mortarboard, especially the tassel. I used silver grey thread, a silver crimp bead (I knew those beads would come in handy for something other than beading), black cardstock and a black rhinestone for the button. I puffed up the top of the hat to give it some dimension.
Other materials used include: Spellbinders Standard Circles Small, DSP from Making Memories Wedding Pack, stamp from Kolette Hall and embossing powder.
