Crafty Creations Challenges #292

Are you ready for some Red, White and Blue?
That's the challenge theme for the next two weeks at Crafty Creations Challenges.  Actually, you can use all three colors or any combination of the three.

We're sponsored by Fresh Brewed Designs and I used one of their images ~ Wonky Christmas Tree.

And since I love anything Patriotic, I had to use all three colors on my card.  Not your traditional Christmas Card, but I love how it all came together.

Be sure to swing on over to Crafty Creations Challenges to see what the other DT members created today.

If you want to, you can stop reading because you have all the information regarding this challenge, right?

However, I have a confession to make. I somehow forgot that this Challenge was a Red, White and/or Blue theme from the time I printed the digi image to when I grabbed it off the printer (all of about 3 seconds; I'm not sure how that happened, but it did).

So I grabbed my Copics, found some great cardstock and DSP that looked great with the "Wonky Christmas Tree" digi and I went to town.

I loved the colors, loved how the dots in the DSP mimicked the dots in the tree.  Until I realized that nothing on this card went with the Challenge theme.

Thank goodness I printed 2 images ... and since I liked the layout, I decided to CASE my own card. The second one went together much quicker than the first...I wonder why?

So, here's my "first" card with all it's colors and sparkle.

And, here are the two cards together.  On a positive note, at least I now have two more Christmas cards completed.

Doodle Pantry ~ Patriotic Items

I love the 4th of July. When we lived in Michigan we would host a huge 4th of July party every year. Relatives from my mom & dad's side along with my husband's family (about 40+ people) would come for the day/evening. Lunch, dinner, snacks, dessert, swimming, boating, fishing ... and then the fireworks. We lived on a lake and shot off our own fireworks along with several other homes. The fireworks seemed to get bigger and better every year.  Competition was fierce, which side of the lake had the bigger/better fireworks? ... It all made the day very memorable.

Now that we're in Florida, we still enjoy a yearly party that includes lots of food and games with friends instead of family ... and no fireworks ~ unless we drive to the city park...which we've done.

What do you do for the 4th of July?  Since it's a bit away yet, why not stop by the Doodle Pantry store and pick up a few Patriotic sets for your holiday invites and decorations.  There's still time to enter the Ants In My Pantry Digital Challenge #6 if you use a digital image on your project (although we'd love for you to use a Doodle Pantry image).

I used USA Star for my card.  The DSP is from my stash.

The sentiment is from Patriotic Sheep

Christmas Card Challenges # 29

It's a Photo Challenge this week at Christmas Card Challenges.  I could only looked at the photo once because:
1) I love Candy Canes
2) I love Cookies
3) I love anything minty (and candy canes remind me of mint), and
4) I'm rushing to get all my blog cards/posts done & scheduled before I leave to spend time with my parents...so I'm sitting here hungry and thinking of ~ candy canes and cookies now {smile}

I heat embossed Merry Christmas with a glitter embossing powder. First time I've used it and it looked real nice on my "sample" piece; yes, I actually did a test run before using it on the finished card.  But, I'm not sure I'm real happy with the way it came out on the card.  The EF I used was intended to mimic the stripes in the Candy Cane.  And the Candy Cane image is from Doodle Pantry's Candy Cane Poem set.

Here's the Photo for our Challenge this week. We'd love for you to play along with us; you can use the photo as inspiration, or one of the DT cards (click here) or any Christmas theme ... the only real requirement is that you make a Christmas Card.

Christmas Card Challenges # 28

It's Anything Goes this week at Christmas Card Challenges.  I hope you can join along because we are almost half way through the year (less, if you factor in WHEN those Christmas cards need to be mailed) ... so you better get your cards started ~ done ~ thought about ... or you'll be sorry come the end of November. {smile}

Happy Father's Day

A quick post today to share a card I made my Dad for Father's Day.  I've always been his "little girl" -- ok, truth be told, I'm his ONLY girl, but does that really matter?

The digital image is from Dearie Dolls and the sentiment is computer-generated by me. The image was colored using Copics.

The DSP I found in the sale bin at Tuesday Morning (great deal, love this double-sided cardstock).

I was inspired by:
QKR Stampede this week - #143 Father's Day. I didn't have time to shop the store, but based on their DT samples, they have adorable images that I can't wait to check out when I get back to crafting (I'm going to spend some much needed time with my parents for awhile).

New Products ~ Doodle Pantry

Doodle Pantry has a few new, or revised, sets for you today.  Check out the store to see all the new items (click here).

On the front of the card, I used Kids Toys for the image and papers from Smarty Pants Digi Papers.  I embossed brown cardstock with a Woodgrain EF to mimic the wood on the treasure chest.

I was given sequins from a dear friend and haven't used them very much. But they just seemed to fit with this image.  I used a lightened pre-colored image and added some highlights and accents using Copics.

Surprise !  It's actually a Christmas card. The sentiment is from the Christ Your Treasure set.  I think it's the perfect sentiment for the image.

Stop by the Doodle Pantry blog and enter the monthly Ants in My Pantry Digital Challenge.  The only requirement is that you use a digital image ... however we love it when you use a Doodle Pantry digital image.

Doodle Pantry AIMPDC #6

Hop on over to Doodle Pantry for the monthly Ants In My Pantry Digital Challenge (it opens noon EST).  Any digital image is accepted; although we love it when you use a Doodle Pantry image (click here to see all the sets you can purchase, or pick up a few freebies to use).  Anyone, from anywhere, can win.

I used Bird Bath Joy-color Plus for the pre-colored digital image and sentiment on the front and Gift Monkey for the sentiment on the inside. The DSP are also from Bird Bath Joy-color Plus.

Note: You may be wondering why there's no "white piece for writing" on this card.  My cardmaking friends send each other cards with our message written on an unattached insert.  This way the card receiver can re-use the card.  Since we don't do big, fancy gifts, our card becomes our "gift."

I was inspired to create this card by QKR Stampede. Their challenge this week is Bath Time. And this little birdie is definitely "taking a bath."
