Wishing You a Tweet Day

Doodle Pantry is sponsoring Operation Write Home-Sketch Challenge #259. This is a great organization that provides cards to our deployed heroes to use when they write home.

I used Tweet House from Doodle Pantry. It's a FREEBIE and you can get it as an instant download on the Doodle Pantry Freebie Page (click here).

I chose to use the pre-colored digi -- no surprises there, right -- but then went over the birdhouse with Copics to darken it a bit so it blended better with the burgundy cardstock. The sentiment is one of three that come with the set.

Crafty Creations #283

Crafty Creations' Challenge through March 2 is:
White plus One

The lavender cardstock is very "shimmery."  I love how CAS (for me anyway) this came out.  The dress die cut is from Whimsy Stamps.

I cut the dress from the lavender and white glossy photo cardstock.  I then placed a piece of lilac vellum behind the lavender piece and inlaid the white dress. The pearls were a necessity because that's where the alignment holes were and I needed to cover them with something. Pearls worked.

I hope you'll stop over and see what the other DT members created (click here). We hope you join along because we really do love to see everyone's creations.

I'm entering this card in the following:
  >  Die-Cut Divas: Words, Quotes & Sentiments
  > Papertake Weekly: Take Your Pick (I chose "Color Theme" using a Cool shade of Violet)
  > Crafting for All Seasons:  Dies and/or Punches (I used Dies)
  > Whimsy Stamps Inspiration Challenges: Use a Sentiment

Christmas Card Challenges # 12

It's an "Anything Goes" theme this week at Christmas Card Challenges. I hope you join along, since this is a great way to get those Christmas Cards done all year without feeling the rush in November.

I found this stamp in a dollar bin at a local Flea Market.  It's "Holiday Botanical" by Stampington & Co. I inked it up using Baked Brown Sugar (Stampin' Up!) and colored it with Copics.

I included a bit of green organza ribbon and bow along with a few red roses that I inked with Memento Rhubarb Stalk.  The burgundy background (I know it looks red in the picture, but it's actually a deep burgundy) I embossed using Holly by Paper Studio.

Stop by Christmas Card Challenges to see what the other DT members created this week. I can't wait to see your Christmas creations, so I hope you join along with us.

Doodle Pantry New Products

I want to give a big welcome to Karyn and Kate ~ my newest blog followers.
~  ~  ~  ~  ~  ~  ~  ~  ~  ~

Even though I'm a member of the Doodle Pantry DT, I wasn't "scheduled" to create a card for today's new product release. But when I saw the Renewed Faith Sentiments set . . . I knew I had to create a card using one of the scripture sentiments.

I won't go into details, but I shared with Laurie, the creator of Doodle Pantry, why this particular verse/sentiment meant so much to me and why I wanted to join the other DT group today.  God always knows what we need and when we need it.

I had the butterfly stick pin on my desk; I don't remember why or when I made it. But, it was destined to be a part of this card.  And I didn't have any Coral flowers, so I sponged a few pink ones. A bit of ribbon and spirals complete the decorative aspect of the card.

The gorgeous DSP is also a part of this set and I actually had ink (Memento Morocco) and cardstock (Stampin' Up! Calypso Coral)  that matched it perfectly. The sentiment and matching mat were cut using Spellbinders' Decorative Labels Eight.

I don't know if it's because of who I made this card for, or the verse/sentiment, or because it came together just as I had envisioned . . . but this will always be one of my top 10 favorite cards.

Please stop by the Doodle Pantry store to see the other new products being released today. All the new products are on sale-25% off.  And, don't forget to check out the new Freebie section (click here).

Christmas Card Challenges # 10

This week our theme at Christmas Card Challenges is:
White on White

My cardmaking mojo has taken a hiatus the past few weeks. It's been a rough year (and it's only 6 weeks in) . . . so many friends and neighbors have passed away, or are in the hospital, or sick. I just don't feel like "crafting."

So, it was hard for me to get inspired for this Challenge . . . "white on white" ??? What could I do?  Then an idea hit me, and I'm actually quite pleased with the final card.

I used a Die-namics Die (Dispersed Dots) to create a stencil for the background dots. Then I spatula'd (is that even a word?) some Aleene's True Snow over my dotted stencil. My intention was for it to look like "falling snow."

The tree was cut from Whimsy Stamps' Tall Timber Die. I dabbed clear glitter on all the branches to give it the appearance of glistening snow.

The wavy snow drift was cut using Die-namics' Wavy Edge Die placed at an angle. OK, I could have cut this free-hand, but I had the Die forever and had never used it, so this was the perfect time to break it in, right?

I added foam tape (dimensionals) to the back of the dotted piece, the tree and the snow drift to add, well, "dimension" to the card.

The entire card was made out of a white holographic-type cardstock. It has a bit of a shimmer to it also, which I'm not sure shows up in the pictures. Quite fascinating in person.  Oh, I also placed the sentiment on the inside because I didn't want to clutter up the front of the card.

New Doodle Pantry Products Available

Today is the first Tuesday in February. Wow! Where are the days going?  It seems like 2015 is flying by too quickly.

Laurie, the creator behind Doodle Pantry, added several really cute products to the store this week.  Living in Florida, well . . . I had to use the set that included a Palm Tree.  The sentiment, image and patterned paper are all from the Lil Gorilla Jungle set.

The colors are actually very vibrant (at least on my computer they look a bit washed out). I know I'm not a great photographer, or perhaps I just need a better camera. Click on the link at the bottom and you'll see how beautiful this set actually is.

Stop by the Doodle Pantry store to see all the new sets this week (click here).  Then hop on over to the Doodle Pantry Blog after 12 noon (EST) to check out this months Ants In My Pantry Digital Challenge.
