2nd of Two Posts Today

You may see this post first, but I actually wrote the other one first . . . so without getting into how crazy my month has been . . . why not just get to the card.

This card is for the Monthly Progressive Challenge by From the Heart Stamps (click on the names to go to either the challenge or the store).

I tweaked the sentiment a bit so it would be more generic (maybe for a guy, child, well, just about anyone really). . . . the original said "Wishing a Super Dad a Super Birthday."  There also was a "You're my Hero" sentiment included in the set. So, I removed the 'a Super Dad' from the first sentiment and added the 'You' from the second sentiment. I love working with digis (if you had actual stamps, you could do the same thing...just ink up what you want and stamp~coloring the stamp with dye ink markers really helps with this process also).

I colored the image with pencils (haven't done that in a while). I found this DP in my stash and thought it went great with the image and sentiment.

The inside doesn't need any additional sentiment, but I finished it to compliment the front of the card.

Items used:

First of Two

I have two cards to post today. I had SO much fun creating these cards and actually finished them weeks ago. Then couldn't find the camera, then couldn't find the cards I made, then couldn't find the memory card from the camera . . . do you get the sense of how crazy my month has been?

So, pictures finally downloaded and watermarked and . . . ta da!

I just love this little penguin guy. Such a bright and cheery card.

I also added Mr. Penguin to the inside and finished off the "happy, happy happy" sentiment with a "birthday" stamp.

What? Where did June go?

Yes, that's how I feel. I don't know where the month of June went. I am SOOOO far behind on my "To Do" list for June.  I won't even have to create a "July To Do" list . . . I'll just change the heading on the "June" list to "July" and at least one thing will get accomplished {smile}.

So, a quick post.  The image and the sentiment are from the Doodle Pantry Smooth Sailing set.  I chose to use the line art and not color it~I just love the simple look of the image. The pattern paper is actually from a wallpaper book~love the pattern and colors.

I added card stock to the inside, but decided to leave it blank at this time. This way the card can remain just a "Thinking of You" card, or can be tweaked to be a birthday, get well or even a sympathy card.

Stop by the Doodle Pantry Blog or the Doodle Pantry Store for more information on upcoming products and special sales beginning July 3.

It's Time for Christmas Again

Welcome to another Christmas Card Challenge.  This week we have an Inspiration Photo for you.  This is my card . . .

. . . and this is the inspiration photo. I picked up the gold in the ornaments; the sheerness of the ribbon by using vellum and adding a similar ribbon; and, the red from the package for the mat.  OK, so there's no green in the inspiration photo, but I had to throw that in.

I added a few ornaments to the inside, a little more ribbon and some vellum.  I placed the sentiment on the inside because I thought it cluttered up the front . . . although I think the front still needs "something."

Stop by the Christmas Card Challenges blog this week (click here). We have new DT members and their card samples will give you lots of ideas for cards of your own.

Items:  Sentiment Holiday Notables 1, Notables 1 Die, Elegant Notables 1 Die & Ornament Border Die~Whimsy Stamps;  Leaf Border Punch and Leaf Punch~Martha Stewart; Ribbon & Cardstock from stash.

I'm on a Merry-Go-Round

I really love the different Carousel Horse sets from Doodle Pantry.  The Carousel Horse 4 was a new set in May, but I'm just finally getting around to showing the card I made.

My goddaughter has a birthday soon and I know she will love this card.  I can't believe she is graduating from Elementary School to Middle School ~ wherever did the years go?

I used the color version of the image~absolutely love these colors. I also used one of the papers that came with the set.

And, the carousel horse, a die-cut from Whimsy Stamps, adds that 'finishing touch' to the inside of the card.

Crafty Creations Challenges: Tic Tac Toe

We have a "Tic Tac Toe" theme for the next two weeks at Crafty Creations Challenges

I'll let you in on a little secret . . .
I have a very difficult time making a decision when I'm told I can have or do anything I want.

 Which items do I pick? I want it all . . .
What do I want to do? I want to do it all . . .
What are my options? Am I missing anything?

So while a Tic Tac Toe Challenge should be easy . . . it's not. At least it's not for me.
And I created the Tic Tac Toe board for Anna so you think I would have created a board with my favorites all in a row.

But I didn't. I put all my favorites on the board . . . which only made it harder for me to pick 3 . . . in a row!!

However, I was making this card for a good friend,
so that made it a bit easier for me
(I love making cards with a particular person in mind).

Our Sponsor, A Creative Need, sent me the beautiful "Blossom Bouquet" digi to use.

My original plan was to watercolor the image. But . . . when I began to color it, the black ran (image on the right).  Duh, I forgot to print it on the laser printer (watercolors and inkjet printed digis don't mix well).  So, I grabbed my Copics and colored a 2nd image I had printed (image on the left).

I don't normally share my "mistakes" but I thought you would appreciate the final colored image more if you saw my original attempt also.

Here's the Tic Tac Toe Board. As you can see from my card, I used:
 Flowers, Embossing & Die-Cut.
Or, Flowers, Ribbon and Digital Image.
Or, Die-Cut, Ribbon and Circles (those are circles behind the digi image).

Stop by the Crafty Creations Challenges blog to see what the other DT members have created. Then, pick your favorite row, column or diagonal on the Tic Tac Toe board and play along.

Update: I also used a freebie sentiment from Netty's Cards (click here).  I met Annette when I won my very first challenge (sponsored by Stamp Fairy).  She has LOTS of freebie sentiments. Be sure to check out her blog.

I'm entering the above card in A Creative Need's Monthly Challenge: Anything Goes

Christmas Card Challenges: Color Challenge

Christmas Card Challenges has a Color Challenge for you this week.

I used a pre-colored image (Snowman Pile-up) and digi papers (Petite Bouquet) from Doodle Pantry for my card this week.  I still like to color my own images, but having them pre-colored . . . well, it sure helps in completing a card quickly ~ and they look beautiful to boot.  The sentiment is an old stamp I found in my "Christmas Sentiments" box.

Here's a closeup of this adorable image. It just shouts "Happy Fun!" to me ~ even though I'm not a fan of the snow and cold.

I may add a "Merry Christmas" sentiment to the inside~not sure yet.

Below is the Photo Inspiration for this week's Challenge at Christmas Card Challenges.  We'd love it if you would join us; and you'll love the fact that you now have at least one card completed for the Christmas holiday season.  And, stop by to see what the DT members created this week (click here).

Snowman Pile-up  Petite Bouquet
I also used Die-namics Circle Stax 1 & 2 and Bracket Tab Dies on this card.

Update: No gallbladder problems; however I have a pulled muscle(s) behind the rib cage. I'm not even sure how or when that happened, and it will take some time to heal, but at least no surgery.

What's New at Doodle Pantry this Month?

With Memorial Day just past and July 4th around the corner, I'm in a patriotic mood.  So when I saw the new Carousel Horse 5 set, well . . . I knew that was what I wanted to feature today.

With my schedule this past week, I didn't have much time to create a card for the new Doodle Pantry June launch, so I decided to use the pattern paper and color image from this set.  I love the way it all came together . . . not to mention how fast and easy it was to create.

Can you believe it??  I didn't even add a smidgen of Copics to this image.

When I found this adorable Carousel Horse die from Whimsy Stamps, I had to buy it. With all the Carousel sets available at Doodle Pantry, I can see this die being used over and over.

Since I have several friends/relatives with early July birthdays, and considering how easy this card went together, I'd better make a few more to have on hand.
